About the awards

How are winners of the IFR Awards selected?
Winners are selected by IFR’s experienced and impartial editorial team, based on a company’s performance throughout the Awards year.  The Awards year runs from November to November.  Companies are encouraged to pitch for Awards in October of each year, but winners are not restricted to those that do.  For more information, click here.

Tombstone auction for Save the Children
Over the years, the investment banking industry has raised more than £27.5 million for Save the Children through the tombstone auction at the IFR Awards Dinner.  The tombstone auction sees companies pledge amounts of money to the charity, competing to become the tombstone’s bookrunner as the organisation to have pledged the highest amount.  All pledges are cumulative.

To give an idea of the value associated with becoming the tombstone bookrunner, below are the contributions received over the past four years:

£500,000 – JP Morgan (2019)
£500,000 – JP Morgan (2018)
£525,000 – Citigroup (2017)
£800,000 – UBS and UBS Optimus Foundation (2016)

Tombstone tiers are dynamic based on bids received but, as a guide, the average bids to get into the Senior co-lead and Co-lead brackets last year were £80,000 and £30,000 respectively.

Donations can also be accepted prior to the event, allowing bidders to have more air time on the large stage screens when the tombstone commences.  Should this be of interest to you, please contact:
